Your Role:
- Oversee, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate medical records system for all residents
- Direct the day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Department
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all health information in accordance with HIPAA and facility guidelines
- Review and process medical record requests, referring any questionable releases for appropriate review
- Ensure timely filing and maintenance of all medical documentation, reports, and correspondence
- Monitor record accuracy and completeness to support survey readiness and regulatory compliance
- Prepare reports and maintain required statistical and management data
- Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives through routine chart audits and reviews
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure accurate and timely resident documentation
- Educate and support staff on medical record procedures, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Perform additional administrative and clerical duties as needed
Who We're Looking For:
- Experience in medical records or health information management, preferably in long-term care or a healthcare setting
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state and federal regulations related to health information management
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- RHIT or related certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A dependable, accountable, and team-oriented professional committed to excellence in recordkeeping and resident care
