Definition
A staff member responsible for supporting the school's counseling program.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma; AA degree preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer literate
- Experience working with children
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents and staff
Reports To
Guidance Counselor and/or building principal.
Job Goals
To assist the guidance counselor in working with students, records and school programs.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Responsible for correspondence and communications of the guidance department.
- Collect basic student information and forms from incoming and exiting students.
- Prepare student data and reports from computer systems.
- Maintain student schedules, class and homeroom counts. Prepare classroom rosters.
- Maintain student permanent record files, grades and report cards.
- Track records from other schools and their review by counselor. Send out records as
requested.
- Collect information for honor roll, progress reports, failure letters, etc.
- Maintain the lock and locker checkout lists and combinations.
- Prepare periodic reports as needed.
- Keep guidance department schedule of events, appointments and yearly calendar.
- Track inventory, expenditures and arrival of department materials.
- Assist with testing, mass enrollments, school-wide guidance programs and master
schedule development.
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
Terms Of Employment
- Number of days assigned annually.
- Salary and benefits as per Board policy.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and procedures.
